Website Redesign

Study Maryland

Goal: redesign the Study Maryland website to better promote higher educational opportunities in Maryland to prospective international students

Objective 1

  • Design a welcoming home page and student-friendly menu with a clear action to "Find a School"

Objective 2

  • Create a school profile for each university highlighting their programs, scholarships, and opportunities

Background

Study Maryland is a branch of the Maryland International Education Consortium (MIEC) dedicated to helping international students learn about higher educational opportunities in the state of Maryland.

The Study Maryland website serves as an introduction for all prospective international students interested in studying at a Maryland school.

Problem: Dated Website

The Study Maryland website has not been updated for some years and has outdated information. The website also needs a glow-up with a more modern touch.

Building Prototypes in Figma

Objective 1:
Inviting Home Page

Redesigned the home page to be more welcoming and student-friendly. A picture of the University of Maryland school was used as the home page to cue the user into knowing the website is related to education. A simplified menu allows students to quickly navigate to important pages while the "Find A School" button is emphasized.

Objective 2:
Add School Profiles

Designed a page for all schools with icons to categorize each. Schools located in the city were represented with a city icon while those located in a more suburban area were represented with a tree icon.

Created a school profile page for each school with key highlights and information students would like to know at a glance.

Final Website

Used Sqaurespace to create the final website that is now live. Currently working with an external company to build a mobile-friendly version of the website.
